FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
I’m based in the Cotswolds, where I offer private, pre-booked appointments for clients who’d like to meet in person. Many clients choose to work with me virtually, which works just as well. My goldsmiths are based throughout the UK, and I offer complimentary delivery across the UK.
HOW SOON SHOULD I GET IN TOUCH?
For engagement rings involving rare diamonds or gemstones, I’d recommend getting in touch as early as possible, as sourcing can extend lead times beyond the usual 8–12 weeks. For wedding rings, most clients reach out around 8–12 months before the day to ensure good appointment availability and a relaxed process.
HOW LONG DOES THE BESPOKE PROCESS TAKE?
Most bespoke and made-to-order pieces take around 8–12 weeks from design approval to delivery, depending on complexity. During busy wedding and gifting periods, it’s best to enquire sooner to avoid delays.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO INVEST IN AN ENGAGEMENT RING?
Each engagement ring is designed as a one-off. Most commissions start from around £2,500, with final pricing depending on the design, metal, and stone choice. I’ll always guide the design to suit your desired price point.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO INVEST IN A BESPOKE WEDDING RING?
Wedding rings are also made individually. Plain wedding bands start from £400, diamond-set bands from £995, and titanium rings from £300. Final pricing depends on design and materials, which we’ll discuss together.
WHAT METALS DO YOU USE?
I work with a range of precious metals, including titanium, 9ct and 18ct white, yellow, and rose gold, as well as platinum.
WHAT ARE CONFLICT FREE DIAMONDS?
All diamonds are sourced through suppliers who adhere to the Kimberley Process, which helps prevent conflict diamonds from entering the supply chain. This means you can be confident in both the provenance and ethics of the stones used.
I HAVE INHERITED SOME JEWELLERY THAT I WON'T WEAR, CAN YOU HELP?
Yes. Stones can often be reset and metals reused to create a new piece, whether that’s a full remodel or incorporating elements into something new and meaningful.
CAN YOU ENGRAVE MY ORDER?
Yes. Both hand and laser engraving are available and usually add 5–10 working days. Pricing depends on the engraving style and can be discussed during your consultation.
HOW IS BESPOKE DIFFERENT FROM THE HIGH STREET?
Most high street jewellery is made using pre-manufactured cast designs that are reproduced many times over. Every piece I create is bespoke, designed specifically for you, and made individually. The difference in finish, fit, and longevity is noticeable.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY RING IS MADE?
All bespoke commissions are guaranteed for 12 months against craftsmanship issues. General wear and tear is expected over time, and I recommend a check-up every 1–2 years to keep your piece in good condition.
WHICH PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
Payment can be made via bank transfer, cash or via PayPal
DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT TERMS?
A 50% deposit is required to begin a bespoke commission. The remaining balance is due once your piece is ready for collection or delivery. Payment schedules are available through Paypal.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURNS POLICY?
When you place an order with us on hollyrobinsonjewellery.com, you are welcome to return any item(s) provided you return them within 14 days of delivery. Pieces must be returned in an unworn condition. Sales on bespoke & made to order pieces are final and non-returnable. Please refer to your terms conditions or contact me directly for details.
HOW DO I BOOK A CONSULTATION?
For in-person appointments, I recommend booking around six weeks in advance. Zoom consultations are available during the week and can usually be arranged sooner.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT FINGER SIZE TO ORDER?
Accurate ring sizing is really important as it's not always possible to resize some designs, so here are a few pointers on how to take a ring size: Try to avoid sizing your finger when hot or cold as your finger size will alter. If attempting to buy a ring for someone else without their knowledge be sure to measure an existing ring from the correct hand as the fingers on a dominant hand are usually larger than those on the other hand. A wide band ring may require a larger size than a narrow band in order to allow the ring to slide over the knuckles so be sure to use an appropriate width of ring sizer. If you have prominent knuckles you may find that rings that are large enough to pass over the knuckle may then swing around on the finger. Do not be tempted to buy rings that are tight as this will only make your finger swell, especially when you are hot. You could ask a High Street jewellery retailer to measure your finger using the UK A-Z wheatsheaf measurement scale. Ideally, when creating a ring, I always would prefer to measure you myself or measure your existing ring but, failing that please get in touch and I can send you an at-home sizing kit.
